How to get rid of rats in the attic

Rats are creepy, terrible animals that nobody wants around their home at all. The sad fact is that these rodents will find a secluded spot in your home is the perfect location to set up their own residence. This is especially true of your attic. If you think about it, you very rarely go in your attic at least that is true for most people. This means that the rat can exist in relative solitude, tearing up your heirlooms and other memorabilia while also leaving around pestilence and disease. To say you want them out may be the understatement of the year.

But how do you go about doing this? How do you get rid of rats in the attic? That is a good question, and there are actually quite a few different remedies that you can use to resolve this problem.

The first one is simple extermination. If you want to ensure that the rats do not come back again, then the most sensible thing to do would be to poison them in some way. While this may seem like a very inhumane thing to do, the reality is that getting rid of the rats is your first priority. Poisoning them in some way may insure that you don’t have them come back ever again. This can be done by simply using some kind of rat pesticide pellets. If you set these around the attic area, the rats will eat them and will eventually die. Then it becomes your job to clean up after them.

This may not be that big a deal if there are just a few rats within your attic, but you will have a lot of work to do if there is a large colony that is living there. This is one of those interesting dilemmas. Many would say how horrible it would be to have to clean up that many dead rats there were 100 living in your attic let’s say. However, think about how difficult it would be to try to drive those rats out if you didn’t poison them?

If you think that there may be just a small number that is living there, then your solution may be to use some kind of trap to capture them. All you have to do is set up the trap, at some kind of beat to it, and then wait for the rats to go into the trap where they are captured. You then take the trap somewhere else where you dispose of the rats or let them go.

If you know that there is an entry way that they are using to get into your attic then your option can be a one-way funnel. This allows the rats to travel through the funnel out of the attic, but they would not be able to get back in.
